It is based on\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fischl.de\/\">Thomas Fischl&#8217;s<\/a>\u00a0USBasp design project. The USB interface is achieved by using an atmega8 processor and the rest is done in firmware.<\/p>\n<p>The firmware are free to load from USB in-circuit programmer for Atmel AVR controllers. It is based on\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fischl.de\/\">Thomas Fischl&#8217;s<\/a>\u00a0website.\u00a0You can download\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.fut-electronics.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/11\/USBasp_win_driver_x86_x64_v3.0.7.zip\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Windows drivers from here<\/a>, so you can use them on Windows Vista and above without any issues. The driver will work on both 32 and 64 bit platforms. For Linux and Mac OS X no driver is required, just use AVRdude and specify the correct port.<\/p>\n<p>The AVR programmer will work with a wide variety of Atmel AVR microcontrollers including the Atmega8a and\u00a0Atmega168a.
