• Synchronous Operation: Outputs change coincidentally with the clock edge, eliminating output counting spikes often associated with ripple counters. 
• Dual Clock Inputs: Separate clock inputs for up and down counting (CLK_UP and CLK_DOWN). 
• Asynchronous Master Reset: The reset (MR) input clears all flip-flops asynchronously. 
• 4-Bit Binary Counter: Counts in binary sequence (0-15). 
• Cascadable: Can be cascaded with other SN74193s to create counters of larger bit widths. 
• BCD or Binary Counting: The SN74193 can be configured to count in either BCD or binary.
